James Gunn’s DC Won’t Make ‘Wonder Woman 3,’ Director Confirms

Fans waiting for ‘Wonder Woman 3’ will be disappointed to learn that the movie won’t be made.

Fans of DC’s ‘Wonder Woman’ received some disappointing news. In a recent interview with HBO Max’s Talking Pictures Podcast, director Patty Jenkins confirmed that ‘Wonder Woman 3’ will not be moving forward under the current DC leadership.

Asked if she’s done with ‘Wonder Woman,’ Jenkins responded:

“Yeah, for the time being. Easily forever.”

The host then argued somebody else could make a third movie in the future. However, the director behind the first two movies stated that the studio currently has no interest in continuing the ‘Wonder Woman’ story:

“No, they are not interested in doing any ‘Wonder Woman’ for the time being. It’s not an easy task with what’s going on with DC. James Gunn and Peter Safran have to follow their own heart into their own plans. I don’t know what they are planning on doing or why, so I have sympathy for what a big job it is, and they have to follow their heart and do what they’ve got planned.”

Previous Rumors About ‘Wonder Woman’s Future

There were rumors that Jenkins left the project due to creative differences. However, she clarified that the film was already off the table due to the changes in DC. As per a source who spoke to The Wrap last year, here is what happened:

“[Warner Bros. Film Group CEOs] Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy [didn’t] know that they were wrong, that they didn’t understand her, the character, character arcs, or what Jenkins was trying to do.”

It appears this left her with no choice despite the fans who wanted to see the trilogy completed.

With Wonder Woman 3 no longer in the works, Jenkins is now focusing on another project: ‘Rogue Squadron.‘ During the podcast, Jenkins also shared her excitement about working on it, as she dreamed of creating a fighter pilot movie.
