Anthony Mackie recently confirmed that Sebastian Stan won’t be appearing in the next ‘Captain America’ movie as Bucky Barnes.
Mackie spoke to Radio Times and said ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ won’t get a second season. He admitted that he was really looking forward to working more with Stan and Brühl:
“I really enjoyed doing that show. I was actually excited to do a second season, just so me and Sebastian [Stan] can get paid to hang out. Because it’s like me, him and Daniel Brühl. It’s kind of like the perfect storm of happiness.”
The actor then said he was sad he wouldn’t get to hang out with them, as Stan and Brühl won’t be in ‘Captain America 4’ as well:
“When they decided to go back to the movies, you know, it is what it is, but I don’t have my friends anymore, so it kind of dampens it a little bit.”
So, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is set to come out on February 14, 2025, but without Stan.
Mackie, Stan, and Brühl Were a Good Team
‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ was one of the first Marvel series on Disney Plus. It followed Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson as he became the new Captain America. Sebastian Stan played Wilson’s sidekick and friend, Bucky Barnes. Daniel Brühl played the bad guy Zemo, and they formed a team that many fans loved.
Even though ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ won’t get a season two, and Bucky Barnes won’t be in ‘Captain America 4,’ there’s a bit of good news. Stan will return as Bucky in ‘Thunderbolts.’ The film will be released on May 2, 2025.
