The InSneider recently revealed that Scarlett Johansson is in talks to star in the next ‘Jurassic World’ movie. A follow-up report by Puck shared that Johansson was actually not Universal’s first pick for the lead role.
Jennifer Lawrence previously turned the studio’s offer down. The actress reportedly wanted to steer clear of big franchise movies after her roles in ‘X-Men’ and ‘Hunger Games.’
The ex-Marvel actress will likely join a new cast in ‘Jurassic World 4’ because Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard won’t return to reprise their parts.
The original ‘Jurassic Park’ trio – Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum – will not feature in the upcoming movie either.
The Film Is In The Works
Universal announced the release date for the upcoming sequel as July 2, 2025, in February. The studio began working on animatronics and VFX before the script to meet the release date.
David Koepp is currently writing the screenplay for ‘Jurassic World 4.’ David Leitch signed on to direct the new installment at first but stepped down due to the tight schedule and pre-existing work.
Gareth Edwards quickly filled his place. He shared his excitement with Collider last month:
“I was about to take a break and I started writing my next idea for a film and this is the only movie that would make me drop everything like a stone and dive right in.”
The director added:
“I love ‘Jurassic Park.’ I think the first movie is a cinematic masterpiece…so this opportunity is like a dream to me. And to work with Frank Marshall and Universal and David Koepp, who’s writing the script, I think they’re all legends. So, I’m just very excited.”
‘Jurassic World 4’ will premiere around a week before Warner Bros. introduces its DCU reboot with ‘Superman’ on July 11, 2025.
