Jonathan Nolan wants to give ‘Westworld’ the ending it deserves, just like he did with ‘Interstellar.’
Nolan recently told The Hollywood Reporter that he is not the kind of guy to just shrug and walk away. He stated that he once spent eight years working on ‘Interstellar,’ and he feels the same about ‘Westworld:’
“We’re completionists. It took me eight years and a change of director to get ‘Interstellar’ made. We’d like to finish the story we started.”
He’s looking for ways to bring ‘Westworld’ back for one last season to tie up all the loose ends. ‘Fallout’ is his main focus right now, but he’s also working on finding a new home for ‘Westworld’ so he can give it the ending it was supposed to have.
He Doesn’t Want to Regret This Later
Nolan added that he didn’t get to finish telling ‘Westworld’s story, and
“The amount of people you can reach with a free, ad-supported service is vastly higher than with a subscription service. That part didn’t bother me. But in terms of finishing the story, you understand that you get the time that you get, sometimes it’s as much as you want, sometimes it’s not. I’m so f*cking proud of what we made. It was an extraordinary experience. I think it would be a mistake to look back and only feel regret [over how it ended]. But there’s still very much a desire to finish it.”
HBO decided to cancel ‘Westworld’ after four seasons and took it off their streaming service.
