Jonathan Nolan Says He’d Absolutely Work On ‘The Dark Knight 4’

He believes it would be amazing to continue the story with a high-quality script.

Jonathan Nolan recently spoke to SHOWSA and talked about making a fourth movie in the ‘Dark Knight’ series.

Nolan said that making ‘The Dark Knight 4’ would be a dream come true for him:

“Wouldn’t that be a dream… So, if I had the chance to go back and work on that again, absolutely.”

You can watch the interview below.

A ‘Dark Knight’ Line Haunts Him

Jonathan Nolan previously said one line from ‘The Dark Knight’ that sticks with him — even though he didn’t write it:

“You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”

This line was written by Christopher Nolan. Jonathan didn’t fully grasp its meaning at first, but he later understood the meaning behind it:

“I’m plagued by a line from ‘The Dark Knight,’ and I’m plagued by it because I didn’t write it. My brother [Chirstopher] wrote it. It kills me because it’s the line that most resonates. And at the time, I didn’t even understand it … I read it in his draft, and I was like, ‘All right, I’ll keep it in there, but I don’t really know what it means. Is that really a thing?’ And then, over the years since that film’s come out, it just seems truer and truer. In [Oppenheimer], it’s absolutely that. Build them up, tear them down. It’s the way we treat people.”

There are currently no official plans to bring ‘The Dark Knight 4’ to life, but Nolan is still excited about the possibility. Christopher Nolan is very protective of their Batman movies, so they would only make another one if they could keep the same quality.
