Marvel Exec Says They Learned Their Lesson: No More ‘Too Many’ Movies And TV Shows

The studio decided to scale back its production of new projects after several releases lost audiences.

Marvel’s latest big-budget films, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ and ‘The Marvels,’ failed at the box office last year. Co-president Louis D’Esposito admitted that the failure was the result of ‘too many’ projects and explained the studio’s new strategy to Empire:

Marvel’s Release Schedule Is Full

The studio has four films on the 2025 calendar: ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ ‘Thunderbolts,’ ‘The Fantastic Four,’ and ‘Blade.’ Another set including the fifth ‘Avengers’ will follow in 2026.

Deadpool & Wolverine’ will be Marvel’s only 2024 theatrical release. The film will hit the screen on July 26. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will return as the title characters.
