Nicholas Galitzine starred as queer characters in Prime Video’s gay romance ‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ and the Starz drama ‘George & Mary.’ He recently mentioned feeling conflicted about taking on these parts as a straight man in a chat with British GQ:
“I identify as a straight man, but I have been a part of some incredible queer stories. I felt a sense of uncertainty sometimes about whether I’m taking up someone’s space, and perhaps guilt. At the same time, I see those characters as not solely their sexuality.”

Galitzine also portrayed a closeted Rugby player in 2016’s ‘Handsome Devil’ and a bisexual man in 2020’s ‘The Craft: Legacy.’ He explained the ‘plethora of reasons’ why he took on various LGBTQ+ roles in another chat with HuffPost UK:
“One, I have so many friends within the community, and I know so many of them didn’t feel like they had these stories growing up. My gay friends were like wow, to have something cheesy and broad and wholesome is like really, really important, and I think the resonance of that means a lot to me.”
The actor added:
“I think with all of these characters the thing that I find really intriguing as an actor is that underbelly of vulnerability and having to hide oneself. I’m very interested in identity.”

Nicholas Galitzine recently appeared as a boy band singer falling for a 40-year-old single mother in Prime Video’s ‘The Idea of You.’ Out asked him whether he felt a sense of freedom to take on both straight and queer roles at the romantic-comedy’s red carpet premiere in late April.
“Yea, I totally think so. I think, you know for me it’s really just about playing characters that I really respond to on script. You know, really well written characters and that’s really how I decided to choose my projects.”
