The live-action project is finally moving forward with Galitzine in the lead cast.

Amazon MGM Studios recently confirmed that Nicholas Galitzine will play He-Man in the upcoming ‘Masters of the Universe’ adaptation. The company’s head of film production and development, Julie Rapaport, said of the project and casting (per ET):

“We’re thrilled to bring the beloved ‘Masters of the Universe’ to life; we couldn’t be more excited to announce the immensely talented Nicholas Galitzine as our He-Man. This reintroduction of the character and his universe will be an epic film that will delight audiences from here to Eternia.”

The Production Started Decades Ago

‘Masters of the Universe’ live-action film has been in the making for two decades now. The project changed several studios from Warner Bros. to Sony and then to Netflix.

Netflix dropped the adaptation in 2023 due to budget issues. Amazon MGM Studios later took over the Mattel partnership and brought on Travis Knight as the director.

About The Project’s Script And Release Date

Chris Butler now writes the screenplay for the film following early drafts by David Callaham and the Nee brothers. Plot details remain under wraps, but a previous synopsis reads:

“10-year-old Prince Adam, who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”

‘Masters of the Universe’ will hit the big screen on June 5, 2026.
