Will Smith Believes Box Office Failures Are Pretty Normal

Will Smith explains why some movies are failing at the box office.

In a recent interview with Hot Ones, Smith talked about how streaming services changed the way people watch movies. He shared that it’s harder to make a hit movie these days because people need a better reason to leave their homes and go to the cinema:

“The definition of a hit is still pretty much the same. Essentially it’s just harder to get one. You used to be able to put some explosions in the trailer and a couple of good jokes and people were there. Television is so good, there are things that people aren’t just gonna leave their house for anymore. There’s definitely a higher demand for a certain type of film for people to leave their homes.”

Smith is currently promoting his new film ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die.’ You can watch his full interview below.

This Becomes A Big Issue In The Industry

Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ helped bring people back to theaters. The movie made $1.49 billion worldwide. This was a rare case, and many still prefer watching movies at home.

This trend is affecting movies like ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.’ ‘Furiosa’ has a high rating of 7.9/10 on IMDB and 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, but it only made $120 million at the box office. So, it seems people are not going to theaters to see it despite the good reviews.

Smith’s ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ is also in theaters now. It has a 6.9/10 rating on IMDB and 64% on Rotten Tomatoes. Watch the trailer for the movie below.
