Nicole Kidman Shares Exciting Update About ‘Practical Magic 2’

The original cast members will return for the sequel.

Warner Bros. announced a sequel to the 1998 film ‘Practical Magic’ earlier this month. Nicole Kidman recently confirmed that she will join Sandra Bullock to star in the new film.

The actress talked to Variety at the red carpet for her new Netflix project, ‘A Family Affair,’ and said about the ‘Practical Magic 2’ storyline:

“You have to ask Sandy. We’ve been circling it for a while, but you know it’s still in [the early stages].”

The two will also be part of the production team along with Denise Di Novi.

Attempts To Revive ‘Practical Magic’

Kidman previously told People the following about the sequel:

“Yes, I will be in it. And Sandy will be in it. And that’s that. There’s a lot more to tell which is why we go, ‘OK, this is kind of interesting now to be able to do this’ … [We] found a way in.”

The 1998 original followed two sisters involved in a supernatural incident after one accidentally killed the other’s abusive boyfriend. Griffin Dunne directed the film based on Alice Hoffman’s novel of the same name.

Warner Bros. attempted to revisit the book in a show called ‘Sudbury’ with Kim Delaney and Jeri Ryan in 2004, but the project wasn’t picked up. News later reported an HBO Max spinoff based on Hoffman’s prequel, ‘The Rules of Magic,’ but it didn’t move forward.
