‘The Acolyte’ Fans Demand Season 2: They Even Have An Online Campaign

The hashtag #RenewTheAcolyte has been trending for a while.

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ fans are asking for a second season with an online campaign.

Today marks the premiere of ‘The Acolyte’s final episode of Season 1 on Disney+. The show received negative reviews, but fans are not giving up. They now started an online campaign. The hashtag #RenewTheAcolyte has been trending as fans demand more episodes.

One fan tweeted:

“#RenewTheAcolyte because we need more scenes like this. I loved seeing all the Jedi fight scenes. Please, there’s so much story to tell.”

Another fan wrote,

“Bring these soulmates back to me. I can’t do with only 8 episodes of this show.”

‘The Acolyte’ follows a respected Jedi Master who investigates crimes that reveal sinister forces.

There’s Still Hope

Disney+ hasn’t confirmed a second season yet, but the showrunner Leslye Headland didn’t completely dismiss the idea. She admitted that she focused on making the first season satisfying, but there are enough mysteries left behind to make people want a second season.

Headland said she would only consider making a second season if there was more story to tell. She explained:

“I think you should put everything you can into the first season and give the audience a nice resolution that feels satisfying, but enough nods to mysteries that you would want to see a second season.”

The analytics firm Reelgood looked at how the show performed in its first 14 days on Disney+. They found that ‘The Acolyte’ was the second most successful series in terms of streaming and engagement. So, it beat the average top 100 TV shows by six times.

‘The Acolyte’ faced review bombing after its first episode. It now has an 81% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience rating is just 15%. This is the lowest for any Star Wars title on the platform.

The final episode of Season 1 is available to watch on Disney+ today.
