Brad Pitt Addresses Retirement Rumors: ‘What Are These Last Years Going To Be?’

Brad Pitt isn’t quitting acting.

In a new GQ cover story with George Clooney, Brad Pitt mentioned that while he’s slowing down, he’s not ready to quit acting.

In 2022, Pitt told GQ that his film career is entering its ‘last legs.’ This statement of the actor led to rumors of retirement. “I meant that as seasons,” he clarified himself. “You know, there was moving out from the safety of the Ozarks. You embark on this thing and it’s all about discovery and it’s really exciting and interesting and painful and awful and all of it.”

“And then when you’re allowed into the big leagues, it becomes another game of responsibilities and things to answer to,” the actor continued. “But also opportunity and delight and working with people you really respect. And then it’s this time now. It’s: What are these last years going to be?”

Pitt said the following about his career in his June 2022 GQ interview, “I consider myself on my last leg, this last semester or trimester. What is this section gonna be? And how do I wanna design that?”

Later, in August 2022, Deadline also asked the actor to comment on his retirement statements. “No!” Pitt noted. “I know, I really have to work on my phrasing, no, I was just saying, you know, I’m, like, past middle age [and] I want to be specific how I spend those last bits, whenever they may be.”

Besides acting, Pitt has done a lot as a producer. His company, Plan B, helped movies like ‘The Departed,’ ’12 Years a Slave,’ and ‘Moonlight’ win Best Picture Oscars. Six other films from his company have also been nominated for Best Picture.

Pitt stars with George Clooney in the upcoming movie ‘Wolfs.’ It will come out on September 20.
