Demi Moore Explains Why ‘Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle’ Bikini Scene Almost Ended Her Career

The actress looked back on the buzz her bikini scene in the 2003 film created.

Demi Moore recently revealed how the reactions to her appearance wearing a bikini in ’Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle,’ made her question her place in the industry during a chat with Michelle Yeoh for Interview magazine.

“What’s interesting is I felt [criticism] more when I hit my 40s. I had done ‘Charlie’s Angels,’ and there was a lot of conversation around this scene in a bikini, and it was all very heightened, a lot of talk about how I looked,” the 61-year-old actress shared.

“And then I found that there didn’t seem to be a place for me. I didn’t feel like I didn’t belong. It’s more like I felt that feeling of, I’m not 20, I’m not 30, but I wasn’t yet what they perceived as a mother.”

Moore played a former angel, Madison Lee, who started working as an independent operative, in the McG-directed sequel. “There was a moment, I have to say, where I started to wonder, is this really what I should be doing? Maybe that part of my life is complete. Not even over, but complete. Then I realized, if I’m questioning it, then I need to inject it with energy so that I know for sure,” she shared.

’Full Throttle’ also starred Cameron Diaz as Natalie Cook, Drew Barrymore as Dylan Sanders, and Lucy Liu as Alex Munday. The movie received mixed reaction with a 41% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes despite its cast.

The studio confirmed two follow-ups following the 2003 release but canceled the plans in 2004. Demi Moore didn’t return to screen until 2005’s ’Half Light.’
