Brad Winderbaum Explains Why Marvel ‘Messed With’ ‘Agatha All Along’s Title

Winderbaum revealed that the team just wanted to tease fans with fake titles.

Marvel Studios is gearing up for the release of ‘Agatha All Along,’ and we all have noticed that its title went through several changes before the current one was officially confirmed.

In an interview with ComicBook, Brad Winderbaum explained that the multiple title changes were part of a plan to playfully trick fans. “Well, it was always ‘Agatha All Along.’ We were like, ‘It’s going to be ‘Agatha All Along.’ And then someone was like, ‘You know what? We should just come up with a bunch of different titles to mess with the audience,’ he said.

The titles that were considered included ‘Agatha: House of Harkness,’ ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos,’ and ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.’

Winderbaum shared that it all started as a small idea. Someone on the team suggested creating a fake chairback with a different title as a joke. “It started with like, ‘We’ll do it as a fake chairback,'” he recalled. “And they were like, ‘Oh, we’ll actually do it as a fake announcement.’ And it just went back and forth until it just got more and more ludicrous.”

The show itself centers on Agatha Harkness, who is now powerless and struggling after a mysterious Teen (Joe Locke) helps her break free from a spell. The Teen asks Agatha to take him on the Witches’ Road, a dangerous path filled with magical challenges. If they survive, they’ll gain the power that they’re missing.

Along the way, Agatha and the Teen gather a coven of witches to join them on the journey.

The cast includes Kathryn Hahn as Agatha, Joe Locke as the Teen, Sasheer Zamata as Jennifer Kale, Patti LuPone as Lilia Calderu, and Ali Ahn as Alice Wu-Gulliver, an ex-cop. The show also stars Maria Dizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, Debra Jo Rupp, and Aubrey Plaza.

‘Agatha All Along’ will premiere on Disney+ on September 18, 2024, with a two-episode debut.
