James McAvoy Doesn’t Think He’ll Return To MCU As Professor X

He thinks Marvel will probably recast his character for future movies.

James McAvoy doesn’t think he will return as Professor X in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In an interview with BuzzFeed UK, McAvoy said he believes both his characters, Professor X and Mr. Tumnus from The Chronicles of Narnia, will likely be recast if they are brought back in future movies. “We will be seeing someone else play those roles,” McAvoy said.

Disney bought 20th Century Fox, and we are excited about the idea of seeing the X-Men and the Avengers together in the MCU. So far, the word ‘mutant’ was mentioned in ‘Ms. Marvel,’ and Patrick Stewart returned as Professor X in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’

However, none of the actors who played Professor X, including Stewart and McAvoy, appeared in the recent ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ movie.

There is no official ‘X-Men’ movie planned in the MCU, though fans are still waiting for the team’s big debut. Other 20th Century Fox characters, like the Fantastic Four, are already joining the MCU with ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps.’ It’s set to be released on July 25, 2025. The movie will feature Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards.

It’s not clear when the X-Men will be officially introduced, but some former X-Men actors, like Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), and Halle Berry (Storm), could still show up in future MCU films like ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ There’s even a chance Deadpool and Wolverine will return in these movies.
