Alan Tudyk Joins James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ In A Secret Role

It’s not clear if he’s reprising a previous DC role or playing someone new.

Alan Tudyk has officially joined the cast of James Gunn’s upcoming ‘Superman’ movie in a secret role.

It’s not yet clear what character Tudyk will play, but there are rumors that he may voice a computer-generated character. So, possibilities include Krypto or Kelex, the robotic assistant often seen in Superman stories.

It’s unknown if Tudyk is returning as Doctor Phosphorus for ‘Superman’ or if this is a completely new character. James Gunn said the film won’t need any reshoots, so Tudyk’s role may involve adding a character in post-production through voice work or special effects.

Tudyk is already set to appear as Doctor Phosphorus in Gunn’s ‘Creature Commandos.’ Doctor Phosphorus is a Batman villain created in 1977 and became a radioactive skeleton after a nuclear accident. Tudyk also lent his voice to other DC characters like Clayface and The Joker in the animated ‘Harley Quinn’ series, and he portrayed Mr. Nobody in ‘Doom Patrol.’

‘Superman’ will focus on Clark Kent trying to balance his Kryptonian background with his life as a human in Smallville. The movie is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
