Marvel star Tom Holland officially confirmed that ‘Spider-Man 4’ is happening, and we won’t have to wait much longer for it to start production.
During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Holland revealed the news when asked about the long-rumored sequel. “It’s happening,” Holland said. He then added, “Yeah, next summer– Next summer we start shooting, everything’s good to go, we’re nearly there, super exciting. I can’t wait.”
Holland was hinting for weeks that ‘Spider-Man 4’ was in the works. Just last week, he said that the latest version of the script ‘lit a fire under him.’ He didn’t give a specific timeline at the time, and fans were eager for more details. We now finally have the confirmation we were waiting for.
The script for ‘Spider-Man 4’ was written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. They are the same writers behind the previous three ‘Spider-Man’ movies starring Holland. There will be a new director this time. Jon Watts will not return. Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ and the upcoming ‘Wonder Man’ TV series, will take over directing duties.
Plot details for ‘Spider-Man 4’ are still under wraps, but rumors suggest a possible crossover between Holland’s Spider-Man and Tom Hardy’s Venom. The two haven’t met on screen yet, but fans speculated about this for years. Another big character to watch for is Knull, the King in Black, who is confirmed to appear in ‘Venom: The Last Dance.’ The film will hit theaters this week.
