Stanley Tucci Claims He Couldn’t Find Any Job In Hollywood After ‘Devil Wears Prada’ Role

The actor worked with Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt in the 2006 film.

In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Stanley Tucci said he struggled to get a job after ‘The Devil Wears Prada.’

“After ‘The Devil Wears Prada,’ I couldn’t get a job, and I didn’t quite understand that, but that’s just the way it was,” the actor said. “So I went and did stuff that I didn’t necessarily want to do, but I did it.”

Tucci played Nigel in the 2006 movie with Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt. The movie was a box office hit and won two Oscars.

In a recent chat with People, Tucci also said he would be happy to return for a ‘Devil Wears Prada’ sequel. The actor explained, “If it does happen, I can only say that I’ll be happy. I don’t really know. I haven’t [heard] about the plot or anything. I really haven’t.”

News came out earlier this year that a sequel to the 2006 film is being planned. The original producer, Wendy Finerman, will produce the new movie, and discussions are ongoing with the original director, David Frankel. Although McKenna and Finerman are involved, no casting choices have been made yet.

‘The Devil Wears Prada’ is based on a book by Lauren Weisberger. It follows Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), a recent college graduate who wants to be a journalist. She becomes an assistant to Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the tough editor of a fashion magazine. Andy struggles to balance her demanding job with her relationships, including her friends Emily (Emily Blunt) and Nigel (Stanley Tucci).

According to Puck News, ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ might show Miranda Priestly still running Runway magazine and facing the digital age. The movie could also follow the book ‘Revenge Wears Prada,’ where Andy and Emily are now successful magazine editors, and Miranda returns to Andy’s life.

A source told Entertainment Weekly that the original cast, including Streep, Hathaway, and Blunt, were discussing returning for the sequel. Later, the Production List website confirmed that all four actors would come back.
