Ralph Fiennes shared new details about ’28 Years Later’s plot and gave fans a clearer idea of what to expect.
According to Fiennes, ’28 Years Later’ takes place nearly three decades after the original virus outbreak. “Britain is 28 years into this terrible plague of infected people who are violent, rabid humans with a few pockets of uninfected communities,” he said about the plot. “And it centers on a young boy who wants to find a doctor to help his dying mother. He leads his mother through this beautiful northern English terrain. But of course, around them hiding in forests and hills and woods are the infected.”
Fiennes also mentioned that the boy eventually finds a doctor who seems strange at first but turns out to be a good person. This adds tension to the plot as they try to survive.
The movie features a strong cast including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell, and Erin Kellyman. Cillian Murphy is also involved as an executive producer and is expected to make a cameo appearance in the new film.
The first two films of the new trilogy have already been filmed, but the third chapter has not yet started production. ‘The Marvels’ director Nia DaCosta will direct the sequel. The director for the final film hasn’t been announced yet.
’28 Years Later’ is the third installment in the series that started with ’28 Days Later’ and continued with ’28 Weeks Later.’ Directed by Danny Boyle, the movie is set to hit theaters on June 30, 2025. It also marks the beginning of a planned trilogy.
