Daisy Ridley Teases ‘New Jedi Order’s Future: ‘It Won’t Be The Last’

She hinted that more than one movie could be in the works.

Actress Daisy Ridley hinted that her upcoming Star Wars movie ‘New Jedi Order’ could be the beginning of a new series.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Ridley reflected on returning to her role as Rey. She also hinted at the possibility of multiple films by describing the project as ‘the new one/new ones.’ “I feel like the new one/new ones will be so interesting,” she said. “Time has passed and a lot has changed for me, so it’ll be interesting to come back to someone who I know so well, but in such a different moment. For me to inhabit Rey again after all the time that we haven’t seen her, it’s actually scary, but it’s also exciting.”

This comment may mean that ‘New Jedi Order’ could kick off a new series of movies, or even form a new trilogy. Ridley might have been talking about the various Star Wars projects currently in development like ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ series or other upcoming films like James Mangold’s ‘Dawn of the Jedi’ and Dave Filoni’s ‘New Republic’ project. She hinted before that the project is ‘evolving,’ so it’s expanding beyond just one movie.

‘New Jedi Order’ will mark Ridley’s return as Rey. She first played the character in ‘The Force Awakens’ in 2015. Ridley has not appeared as Rey since 2019’s ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’

‘New Jedi Order’ is currently being directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. It doesn’t have an official title yet, but it was originally written by Steven Knight before he left the project. The film is expected to follow Rey after the events of ‘The Rise of Skywalker,’ but Ridley’s recent comments suggest that it could be more than just a standalone movie.
