Reports from Derek Faraci on the ‘Marvelvision’ podcast recently claimed that Barry Keoghan’s Joker, introduced in Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman,’ would return in ‘The Batman – Part III.’ Rumors said the villain would also star in his own spinoff show or appear in an existing one before the film.
A possible new show featuring the Joker would likely serve to connect the storylines between the upcoming Batman films, similar to the role ‘The Penguin’ played between the first and the second movies.
Keoghan was initially expected to reprise the Joker role in ‘The Batman – Part II’ since the original production’s post credits teased this. But Reeves made it clear that the scene was there to highlight the trouble in Gotham.
Following the success of ‘The Penguin’ since its September release, the idea of a Joker spinoff isn’t unlikely, especially because the director confirmed working on new projects in the Batman Epic Crime Saga.
“We have been talking, and it’s exciting because people are now embracing the show,” he recently told InterviewMagazine.com. “My fantasy is coming into being, which is very exciting, and HBO has been incredibly supportive from the beginning. Now to see that the show is being embraced is really, really exciting. We have been talking about doing other shows.”
Ahead of new spinoffs, ‘The Batman – Part II’ is waiting for release. The sequel will hit the big screen on October 2, 2026.
