‘In Time’ Actress Amanda Seyfried Defends Leaving Hollywood ‘To Find Peace And Privacy’

The actress has been living on a farm in Upstate New York with her family for years.

In a recent chat with Forbes, Amanda Seyfried explained why she left Hollywood to seek peace and privacy.

“I moved upstate long before I had a family,” the actress said. “Staying here was the best decision for privacy, peace and nature. It offers a more balanced life than the city does. [it is] essential for my mental health.”

Seyfried left Hollywood for New York City years ago. She eventually settled on a farm in Upstate New York. Now, with a husband and two kids.

Her farm is home to horses, chickens, cats, goats, donkeys, ducks, and her 15-year-old dog, Finn. Country life has also been a great way to teach her kids important lessons—like the value of small farms, growing their own food, mindful eating, and respecting animals.

Amanda previously talked about how farm life has influenced her parenting. In an interview with People last month, the actress said having farm animals helps her talk about death with her children.

She explained, “What I’ve learned living on a farm is that I’ve been exposed to a lot of death, and it’s helped me shape my relationship with it. And I am almost positive that my kids will have a healthier understanding and appreciation for life and death because of the farm.”

“They know he’s an old man, and my daughter especially, she knows that things die, but you get a chunk of time with them, you respect them, you love them, you give them the best life they can have, and then they go, and you remember them,” Seyfried continued. “It’s just like it’s the most positive spin that you can have.”

Seyfried’s next projects include the movie ‘The Housemaid,’ based on Frieda McFadden’s novel, co-starring Sydney Sweeney, and the TV show ‘Long Bright River,’ set to premiere in 2025.
