Rising to fame with her part in the ‘Fifty Shades’ movies, Dakota Johnson stepped into the superhero world with her latest film, ‘Madame Web.’ While portraying the main character, Cassandra Webb, the actress apparently took on stunts that could challenge those of Tom Cruise.
While talking about the film that will come out on February 14, she told Entertainment Weekly:
“I got to do a day of stunt driving work, and I’m really good at it, it seems! I mean, I can do some really wild things with a car. I drove an ambulance. I drove a taxicab. I drove everything in the movie — except for flying through the air and out of a building. But other than that, I’m like, ‘Watch out, Tom Cruise.’”
Johson’s Role As Madame Web
In ‘Madame Web,’ viewers will see the backstory of the comic book hero, who was originally written as a blind, paralyzed elderly woman with telepathic skills.
SJ Clarkson directed the film that shows Cassandra Webb’s journey as she gets her superpowers following an accident, granting her the ability to see the future.
She Had Doubts About The Role
The director asked Johson to play the lead role in 2021, around the time she completed filming ‘The Lost Daughter,’ but the actress was not sure about accepting the offer:
“I got sent this script, and I was like, ‘I don’t know about me being a superhero.’”
She eventually warmed up to the idea, though:
“I was sort of mystified by her powers. I felt like, ‘Oh, I really would love to see that superhero. I would love to see a young woman whose superpower is her mind.’”
What To Expect From The Film?
‘Madame Web’ will show Dakota Johnson’s character teaming up with the Spider-Women, Julia Cornwall (Sydney Sweeney), Mattie Franklin (Celeste O’Connor), and Anya Corazon (Isabela Merced) to fight against Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim), who tries to kill them.
