Gunn Started Filming ‘Superman’ On His Birthday
James Gunn shared a sneak peek of the Superman costume on the character’s birthday. He also said that the movie was first called ‘Superman: Legacy,’ but then they settled on ‘Superman’:
“Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on ‘SUPERMAN’ today, February 29, which just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday. When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film ‘Superman: Legacy.’ By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was ‘SUPERMAN.’ Making our way to you July 2025.”
Besides Corenswet as Superman, the movie stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. The story will explore Superman’s struggles between his alien roots and his life on Earth.
‘Superman’ is scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
