Director Shawn Levy says the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ movie isn’t just another sequel.
Levy told Screen Rant that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is not to be seen as ‘Deadpool 3.’ He also added that it’s a two-hero adventure, and it won’t continue where the last movie left off:
“It’s the third ‘Deadpool’ movie, but it’s not ‘Deadpool 3.’ It’s a different thing that’s very much ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ And it’s not trying to copycat anything from the first two movies. They were awesome, but this is a two-hander character adventure.”
The earlier Deadpool films focused mostly on Deadpool, but Levy implies this new movie will equally spotlight Wolverine.
It’s the First R-Rated Movie By Marvel
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ will probably have more mature content than Marvel’s other superhero movies. The script is written by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells.
Familiar faces will return alongside new ones. Morena Baccarin, Karan Soni, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Stefan Kapičić, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, and Lewis Tan are all coming back. Matthew Macfadyen and Emma Corrin are joining the cast. Macfadyen will play a TVA agent, and Corrin is expected to portray Cassandra Nova.
Levy also hinted that the movie will feature guest appearances. There are rumors about Taylor Swift’s cameo in the movie, but it seems Levy will remain tight-lipped about any of them:
“I can’t even believe that you would dare ask me a question that you know I can’t answer. You know I can’t answer. All of America knows I can’t answer that. I will say as I said earlier here at CinemaCon. The proliferation of rumors about who is and isn’t in this movie is fabulous. Because no one will ever know the truth until July 26th. … I’m going to literally walk about of the frame and save myself, otherwise Ryan’s taking a hit [out] on me.”
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is set to release on July 26, 2024.
