Former ‘Scream’ Star Melissa Barrera Now Wants ‘Scary Movie 6’ Role

She thinks it would be fun to be part of a movie that makes jokes about horror films like ‘Scream.’

Melissa Barrera is setting her sights on a new movie role after her ‘Scream’ firing — she wants to star in the upcoming ‘Scary Movie 6.’

Barrera was previously a part of the ‘Scream’ movies, but she won’t return for ‘Scream 7.’ She’s still excited about ‘Scary Movie 6,’ though. In a recent talk with Inverse, Barrera said it would be ‘so fun’ to be part of the ‘Scary Movie’ films. She thinks it would be a great new start as well:

“I always loved those movies. When I saw it announced, I was like, ‘Oh, that would be fun. That would be so fun to do.’ […] I have this thing of never saying never to anything. I’m very open to the opportunities that come.”

No actors have been confirmed for ‘Scary Movie 6’ yet, but it seems Barrera would like to be one.

Barrera Sees The Firing As A Minor Hiccup

Barrera recently told Collider that she’s focusing on her future and has plans to try out producing and directing. She’s continuing to go to auditions and is determined to keep working in movies:

“Just continuing to put myself out there. Unafraid. Because I’m here to stay. [Laughs] So just continuing to audition – I still have a lot of things that I wanna do. I have a lot of dreams that I want to accomplish – a lot of different movies that I want to do. … There are more important things that are happening in the world and that’s, you know, that was just a little hiccup. I’m good.”

Neve Campbell is coming back for the movie after she missed the last one over a disagreement about pay. The series also has a new director — Kevin Williamson will direct the upcoming ‘Scream 7.’

Barrera is currently in the new horror movie ‘Abigail.’ It just started showing in theaters yesterday. You can watch the trailer for ‘Abigail’ below.
