Gina Carano Still Wants ‘Star Wars’ Role After Suing Disney For $75K

The actress talked about her willingness to return to the ‘Star Wars’ franchise despite her ongoing lawsuit with Disney at FAN EXPO Philadelphia.

Screen Rant reported that Gina Carano assured fans at the EXPO that she holds no grudges against Disney and is open to work with them again. The actress noted that she only spoke out to let people know about what was going on.

Carano was set to play an important part in the future of ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘Star Wars.’ But Disney refused to renew her contract after several controversial social media posts. She sued the company with financial backing from Elon Musk as a result.

Her Comeback Doesn’t Seem Possible

The Cara Dune actress’s lawsuit sought at least $75,000 in punitive damages and a court order for Lucasfilm to rehire her. Disney isn’t likely to make peace, though. The studio defended itself by citing the First Amendment and claiming that it has a right to detach from her publicly shared views.

‘The Mandalorian’ plot also does not have room for Cara Dune at this point. Carano was supposed to lead a now-cancelled ‘Rangers of the New Republic’ spinoff. But instead, the story merged into the third season and ended with Din Djarin helping the New Republic and hunting Imperials.

There Are New Star Wars Projects

Lucasfilm announced a new movie featuring Din Djarin and Grogu earlier this year. Jon Favreau will direct ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu,’ and Pedro Pascal will return as the title character in May 2026.

There will also be several spinoff shows named ‘The Book of Boba Fett’, ‘Ahsoka’, and ‘Skeleton Crew.’ A film by director Dave Filoni will later conclude the interconnected stories.
