Answering fan questions on Threads, James Gunn recently addressed the rumors about the budget of ‘Superman: Legacy,’ revealing if it’s really $364 million.
A follower directly asked Gunn about the speculation surrounding the film’s budget being $364 million, to which Gunn humorously replied:
“Absolutely not. How in the world do they think they know what our budget is?”
What’s the Source of the Rumors?
The rumors originated from an article about the economic impact ’Superman: Legacy’ is set to have in Ohio, where a big portion of the movie is being filmed. According to the article, the production is expected to hire 3,254 Ohio residents, which signals a boost to local employment.
The production has applied for Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credits under the project code name ‘Genesis’ and is anticipated to receive over $11 million in tax credits. With total eligible production expenditures in Ohio nearing $37 million, it was deduced that this amount represents a little more than 10% of the film’s total budget, calculating to over $363.8 million.
As ’Superman: Legacy’ gears up for its release on July 11, 2025, its cast list has been confirmed, featuring David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen.
