Jeremy Renner Credits Robert Downey Jr. For Being A Painkiller To His Injuries

Last year, Renner faced a severe accident while saving his nephew from a runaway Pistenbully snowcat, leading to a difficult recovery period.

The incident took place just before the airing of the second season of ‘Mayor Of Kingstown,’ resulting in Jeremy Renner suffering from a broken leg, serious chest injuries, and a lot of blood loss. In a recent chat with People, the actor revealed how Robert Downey Jr. was a key figure in helping him cope with the pain and stay positive during his recovery:

“We ended up having really great chats on FaceTime, like we were dating or something.”

Renner explained that the Iron Man actor’s sense of humor took his mind off of his intense pain from the injuries:

“He’s like, ‘Dude, the most important thing is you look good. I don’t care how you feel, as long as you look good, that’s all that matters.’ He’s like, ‘You’ve got to get back to do ‘Mayor Of Kingstown’ because we need to see what happens.’ His ways are very heartwarming.”

He Is Well And Back In The Game Now

By the beginning of 2024, Jeremy Renner was back on the set of ‘Mayor Of Kingstown’ for its third season. He mentioned to People in February that he plans to take things slow and work at a more relaxed pace until he’s fully recovered.

The actor also expressed to Entertainment Tonight his hope to get strong enough to come back to the MCU. Speaking about the possibility of returning to the Avengers as Hawkeye, he said:

“I’m always game. I’m gonna be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’ll be ready. All those guys come to my bedside and they’ve been with me all along through this recovery, so… if they want me, they could have me. It would be something.”

Currently, Renner is focusing on his role as Mike McLusky in ‘Mayor Of Kingstown,’ which is still in production for Paramount+. Natasha Marc and most of the other cast members will reprise their roles opposite the Marvel star.
