‘The Fantastic Four’ prepares to hit theaters next year, and Joseph Quinn is not worried about superhero fatigue.
Quinn believes ‘The Fantastic Four’ will be different. In a recent talk with Entertainment Weekly, Quinn said that ‘The Fantastic Four’ is working hard to make a movie that stands out from others:
“I think that with the story of the Fantastic Four, it feels like we want to get this right. There are aspects of it that are very different to other Marvel films. That felt very compelling to me. And again, going back to who’s involved, Matt [Shakman], of course, the director, I think is brilliant, and the cast, and I’ve read it, and the script is brilliant. It’s really brilliant. I’m delighted to have this opportunity.”
Quinn will play Johnny Storm in the new movie. He joins Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Julia Garner.
He Knows How to Make People Want to Watch It
Quinn believes that if the movie focuses on its characters and their adventures, people will want to see it:
“Superhero movies are movies about people. And if we’re invested in the people and the characters and the peril and the spectacle, then that’s why people go to the theaters to watch films. We’re not just in a penny; we’re in for a pound with this one. We’re going to go for it.”
Directors Confirm Superhero Fatigue Is Real
Nia DaCosta and James Gunn said that superhero movies need to keep bringing something new to keep audiences interested. DaCoste told Total Film last year:
“I think superhero fatigue absolutely exists.”
Gunn claimed that people love superheroes like Superman and Batman because they are great characters, and movies need to focus on that:
“I think there is such a thing as superhero fatigue. I think it doesn’t have anything to do with superheroes. It has to do with the kind of stories that get to be told, and if you lose your eye on the ball, which is character. We love Superman. We love Batman. We love Iron Man. Because they’re these incredible characters that we have in our hearts. And if it becomes just a bunch of nonsense onscreen, it gets really boring.”
Quinn is optimistic about his role in ‘The Fantastic Four.’ He wants to bring his own style to Johnny Storm.
‘The Fantastic Four’ is set to open in theaters on July 25, 2025.
