In a recent interview with Business Insider, Mads Mikkelsen shared promising news regarding the potential revival of the ‘Hannibal.’
After a long nine-year wait since the conclusion of the show’s third season, it seems ‘Hannibal’ fans have reason to renew their hopes for a fourth season. While discussing his role in ‘The Promised Land,’ Mikkelsen admitted the cast and Bryan Fuller also want to return to ‘Hannibal,’ but the story might be subjected to some changes:
“It’s no secret that all of us who were part of the cast and Bryan, we all want to go back. It’s got to happen eventually sooner than later because we’re not getting any younger, right? But the story itself can jump, it can have that gap, which is fine. So it’s all about finding a home for it, but that’s nothing concrete out there now. Why that’s the case? I don’t know. We love the show and there seem to be a lot of other people liking it as well. But then I got the chance to work with him on ‘Dust Bunny,’ so I got a little whiff of the old times.”
The actor also revealed that Fuller has ‘a few ideas’ for the continuation of the series:
“He’s got a few ideas, Bryan. So I can’t really reveal any, in case we do start, but I’m sure they made it somehow.”
What Awaits Us in ‘Hannibal’ Season 4?
Loosely based on Thomas Harris’ novel series, ‘Hannibal‘ received critical acclaim for its visual style, storytelling, and performances, especially those of Mikkelsen and co-star Hugh Dancy. Despite its success, the series struggled with network ratings, leading to its cancellation after a cliffhanger ending the third season.
Since then, there have been talks of a revival or movie expansion.
It’s also reported that Fuller wanted to introduce elements from Harris’ ‘Silence of the Lambs’ into the ‘Hannibal’ universe. However, following the adaptation of the book into the CBS show, ‘Clarice,‘ although the possibility of this plan remains uncertain.
In addition to his thoughts on ‘Hannibal’s future, Mikkelsen shared a lighthearted anecdote from the set of ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,’ where co-star Harrison Ford’s sense of humor made him pretty embarrassed. You can read that story here.
