Marvel Studios Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, compared ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ to ‘Game of Thrones’ in terms of its dark tones during an interview on ABC’s On The Red Carpet Storyteller Spotlight stage.
“Imagine if New York City was as intricate and problematic and scary as the world of ‘Game of Thrones,’” he teased. “All these forces vying for control, and it can be really hopeful at times, and really violent at times, and dark—but also there’s light at the end of the tunnel if you could just fight for it.”
Winderbaum had previously likened the reboot of Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ to ‘X-Men ’97,’ explaining that it revived something fans enjoyed but with a new direction. Meanwhile, Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Kingpin, described the new series as something entirely different from the original.
“It’s not the Netflix show,” he told ComicBook last year. “It’s definitely a new show. I mean, all I can say is that Charlie and I are not bored. We are having a great time. We have a great cast, and I think everybody else is having a great time too.”
Despite being a new take on the series, most of the cast from the original Netflix version returned for ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ Charlie Cox reprised his role as the titular hero, alongside D’Onofrio, Jon Bernthal, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Ayelet Zurer.
Cox also confirmed that the famous one-take fight scenes in 2015’s ‘Daredevil’ would return in the new show, which will debut on Disney+ in March 2025.
