Marvel Studios Say ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Will Be Similar To ‘X-Men ’97’

Marvel Studios’ Brad Winderbaum mentioned the similarity ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ to ‘X-Men ’97.’

Marvel Studios Head of Streaming Brad Winderbaum recently spoke on The Official Marvel Podcast and reflected on why ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will resemble ‘X-Men ’97’:

“Daredevil is incredible. It’s similar in some ways to ‘X-Men ’97’ because it’s reviving something that the fans love. But it’s taking it in a new direction.”

Charlie Cox is returning as Daredevil in a new series called ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ confirmed by Marvel Studios at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. The title honors a famous Daredevil comic arc and is a fresh start for the character on Disney+.

What Did Charlie Cox Say About The Show’s Direction?

Originally planned as a reboot, it now continues from Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ series after a creative shift during production. During the Fan Expo Boston panel, Cox said he felt relieved when Marvel Studios stopped and reworked the production of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’:

“Marvel had been incredibly open-minded and willing to correct course, and incredibly supportive. Early on, we were trying something that was a bit different, and very quickly they were able to identify that wasn’t maybe working as well as it could’ve done. Where we are now, I think I can speak for both of us that we feel very happy.”

Daredevil’s TV Journey

Cox first played Daredevil in Netflix’s series starting in 2015. The show was a hit, and it led Netflix to create more Marvel hero series like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and ‘The Defenders.’

Daredevil was canceled after three seasons in 2018. This move returned the character’s rights to Marvel Studios, and paved the way for new projects like ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ The new Daredevil series will arrive on Disney+ in March 2025.

Daredevil isn’t the only new Marvel series. Winderbaum also mentioned two animated projects, ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ and ‘Eyes of Wakanda,’ coming out later this year.
