‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ launched following the success of ‘The Avengers’ in 2013. The show increasingly distanced itself from the MCU over seven seasons. It was overseen by Marvel Entertainment’s Isaac Perlmutter instead of Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige.
The studio recently started to canonize the Marvel Television shows in the MCU. Melinda May actress Ming-Na Wen explained her possible return as part of this move in a chat with Karee Sackhoff. Wen shared whether she received any offers:
“No, they have not… it’s weird, ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ sort of became a separate entity for whatever reason because it was on the network as opposed to streaming. I think there’s some – and this is where my obliviousness also helps because I don’t understand it; so you’re asking the wrong person, I just know that there’s some sort of division.”
It remains unclear if ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ will join the MCU canon. But other series like ‘Daredevil,’ ‘Jessica Jones,’ ‘Luke Cage,’ ‘Iron Fist,’ ‘Defenders,’ and ‘The Punisher’ are confirmed as part of the universe.
Daredevil And His Team Are Back In The MCU Instead
Charlie Cox’s Daredevil already made his debut in the MCU and starred in ‘She-Hulk.’ A reboot of his Netflix show ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is in the works now.
Recent photos from the set show that most of the original cast are back in the project. Ayelet Zurer returns as Vanessa Fisk alongside Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin.
Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson also reprise their roles as Karen Page and Foggy Nelson. Cox commented on his original team’s comeback in March:
“Aw it’s so cool, man. So cool. Yeah, it was pretty heartbreaking when they weren’t around initially. When we came back to filming and they had made some changes, which you guys obviously probably read about and stuff, you know, it was clear that Foggy and Karen are kind of the heartbeat of our show. They always were.”
Jon Bernthal joined the Hell’s Kitchen team as The Punisher, too. February videos showed him against White Tiger in one scene.
