New Hope For Blade Fans As Marvel Refines Strategies For Long-Delayed Reboots

The reboot seems closer than ever to production, according to recent rumors from industry insider.

The ‘Blade’ movie faced several setbacks since Marvel first announced Mahershala Ali as the titular hero at 2019’s San Diego Comic-Con. Finally, the studio removed it from its 2025 release schedule last month, but insider Daniel Richtman claimed on X that the project got a new production date.

The recent post read, “Ali likes the new draft and they’re close to finding a director. It’s the MCU film most likely to go into production next year with nothing else as close. So, aside from the ones we already have [‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ ‘Thunderbolts*,’ ‘The Fantastic Four’] it seems like [‘Spider-Man 4’] and ‘Blade’ are all that’s left for this saga, other than the ‘Avengers’ films.”

If ‘Spider-Man 4’ takes on a Multiversal approach, ‘Blade’ could be a change of pace, possibly landing in Marvel’s empty November 6, 2026, release slot. But it could arrive earlier, on February 13, 2026, if Richtman’s scoop is correct.

The ‘Blade’ production faced delays due to the pandemic, labor strikes in 2023, and the departure of two directors. Still, the studio is determined to make the film, as Kevin Feige previously shared, “For the last few years, as we’ve been trying to crack that movie, the most important thing for us is not rushing it, and making sure we are making the right ‘Blade’ movie. Because there were some great ‘Blade’ movies years ago.”

Eric Pearson (‘Black Widow’ and ‘Thor: Ragnarok’) is writing the script for the reboot. Mia Goth is rumored to join the cast as Lilith.
