Original Narnia Actor Believes Greta Gerwig Has No Place For Him In Reboot

He feels a bit sad because he really liked being part of Narnia’s magical world.

Have you ever felt like you weren’t going to be invited back to a friend’s house for a new party? That’s kind of how William Moseley feels about the new Narnia reboot directed by Greta Gerwig.

Moseley recently shared his thoughts about not being part of the upcoming Netflix reboot. He told Bleeding Cool that he doesn’t think Netflix will ask him to be in the new movies because they want to give the series a fresh start:

“I don’t think I’ll be called into Netflix’s ‘Narnia’ because they are rebranding and rebooting it. I’m not part of that world anymore, which sometimes makes me sad because I love the world of ‘Narnia’ and becoming a part of it. It’s like if you were in ‘Star Wars,’ and you got to see what the Stormtroopers were like. All the amazing things worked, and it’s fun.”

Moseley Hopes They Let Him Tour the Set

The actor is still hopeful he can visit the new Narnia set with his old co-stars:

“You’re a bit like a kid when you’re on the sets, so I’d love to go to the set just to see how it was and what they’re building. That would be incredible, and that would be enough for me, but no, I don’t think there’s any chance I will be in those movies. If there’s a chance that I will be a part of them, other than going to set and hopefully getting a tour — which I hope they let me, along with Anna, Georgie, Skandar, and Ben.”

He Still Supports Greta Gerwig

Moseley has his doubts about returning, but he has nothing but good things to say about Greta Gerwig. He thinks Gerwig is going to do a great job:

“In terms of what I think about Greta Gerwig directing, I think she’s incredible. ‘Barbie’ was an amazing movie, and ‘Little Women’ was brilliant. Everything she touches turns gold, so I think Netflix is lucky to have her, and I’m sure she will embrace the challenge. I hope she enjoys it because it’s an incredible world to create, and I can’t wait to see what she produces.”

Netflix has Gerwig signed on to write and direct at least two Narnia movies. Production is expected to start in 2025.

Gerwig also said she’s interested in making a sequel to ‘Barbie.’ Since she’s busy with Narnia, however, these plans may have to wait.
