Orlando Bloom Still Wants Legolas Role For The New ‘Lord Of The Rings’ Movie

Orlando Bloom admits he thought about returning to ‘Lord of the Rings’ as Legolas.

Orlando Bloom wants to play Legolas again in the new ‘Lord of the Rings’ movie.

The actor expressed his desire to play his famous character again at Superhero Comic Con 2024 in San Antonio, Texas. Agents of Fandom on social media shared Bloom’s remarks from a panel hosted by Angélique Roché. Bloom talked about which of his roles he wants to revisit the most:

“I was only like 20 years old when I went out to New Zealand for ‘LORD OF THE RINGS’, I turned 21 a couple of months into filming and like… inhabiting the headspace of an elf is really fun.”

The Freeman Coliseum’s social media posted pictures of Bloom and Roché at this year’s Superhero Comic Con. In 2026, Andy Serkis and Peter Jackson will release a new ‘Lord of the Rings’ movie titled ‘The Hunt for Gollum.’

What Does Bloom Think About The TV Series Version Of The Film?

Bloom also had positive remarks on Amazon’s prequel series, ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.’ He previously spoke with the Radio Times and stated:

“I had missed Tolkien. I had missed Tolkien’s mind and I’d missed his world and I’d missed his vision – and I think they just stepped back into Tolkien’s world. I thought it was really courageous. It’s not an easy thing to take on another version of something that had such a remarkable run of its own, but I thought it was really admirable; the casting, the story and the way they approached the world… I’m looking forward to more of it.”

Serkis is directing the prequel and returning as Gollum. Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, who won an Oscar for ‘Return of the King,’ are executive producers again. The movie is set during ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ and tells a new story from Tolkien’s world. It follows Gandalf, Aragorn, and Sauron as they hunt for Gollum because of his link to the One Ring.
