Patrick Dempsey confirmed being in talks to reprise his role as Mark Kincaid in ‘Scream 7’ during a recent appearance on the ‘Today’ show.
“I’m waiting on the script,” he revealed. “There has been a conversation about it. I haven’t seen anything yet, so we’ll see what happens. It’s always good to have a job.”
Kincaid debuted in ‘Scream 3’ as a Los Angeles detective investigating a series of murders tied to the ‘Stab 3’ stars. Later films revealed that he and Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott married off camera.
2022’s ‘Scream’ and 2023’s ‘Scream 6’ referred to Mark Kincaid as Sidney’s husband, but Dempsey hasn’t appeared in the franchise since the 2000 sequel.
Now, ‘Scream 7’ is set to bring back Campbell as Sidney. Courtney Cox is also considering returning as reporter Gale Weathers, although she has not yet officially signed on, according to her last month’s interview with Variety.
The franchise creator Kevin Williamson will direct the upcoming film set for release on February 27, 2026. ‘Scream 5’ and ‘Scream 6’ writer Guy Busick will return to write the script.
The executive production team will include Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, along with James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein.
