The ‘X-Men: First Class’ director, Matthew Vaughn, believes the upcoming ‘Deadpool 3’ film will help ‘save’ the Marvel Cinematic Universe by reuniting Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. In a recent interview with the ‘Post-Credit Podcast,’ Vaughn shared what he knew about the film, which is set for a summer release:
“The few snippets that I know about ‘Deadpool vs. Wolverine’ — or ‘Wolverine vs. Deadpool,’ I’m sure that argument between Ryan and Hugh is happening as we speak — are unbelievable. That’s going to be the jolt… the Marvel universe is about to have a jolt of them, and it’s going to bring that body back to life… I think Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are about to save the whole Marvel universe.”
While bringing back Reynolds and Jackman’s characters, the ‘Deadpool 3’ cast will feature Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, and Jennifer Garner as Elektra. Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen will appear in currently-unknown roles in the movie, with Shawn Levy in the director’s chair.
Deadpool And Wolverine Are Joining The Rest Of MCU
The film’s production and release faced delays due to the writers’ strike in 2023. But Levy announced the wrap-up of filming a few days ago, sharing a post on social media with the movie’s lead actors. Jackman, returning to his Wolverine role, shared his experience on X by writing:
“What a ride! I’ve loved every minute of making this movie. Well, not the training and diet, but the other 93.2%. To the best cast and crew, thank you! You are all aces. To two of my best mates, Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy. I literally couldn’t have done this without you. Literally! July 26th can’t come soon enough. Time to shave.”
The actor last played the Marvel’s anti-hero in 2017’s ‘Logan,’ while the last Deadpool movie came out in 2018. In those years, Disney acquired the rights to the X-Men universe, buying assets from 21st Century Fox. The studio plans to unite the X-Men with the main MCU storyline with ‘Deadpool 3.’
