Recent updates from Marvel suggest that while other MCU TV series may look forward to new seasons, the prospects for ‘WandaVision’ Season 2 are dim.
As per Screen Rant, various factors contribute to this. Firstly, the storytelling trajectory and character arcs within the MCU moved beyond ‘WandaVision.’ The series, which concluded in 2021, was designed as a limited series — a format Marvel favored at the time.
This, coupled with plot developments in recent MCU releases, has made the continuation of ‘WandaVision’ less likely.
Is ‘WandaVision’s Future Really That Impossible?
Wanda Maximoff, also known as Scarlet Witch, saw a conclusion in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’ As her journey seemingly ended, this reduced the likelihood of her return in a potential second season.
Besides, Marvel’s recent home release strategy offers clues about the future of its TV series. Titles like ‘Moon Knight’ and ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ were labeled ‘The Complete First Season,’ hinting at future installments. In contrast, ‘WandaVision’ was released as ‘The Complete Series.’
Comments from the creators and actors associated with ‘WandaVision’ also suggested that a second season is unlikely. Early in 2021, key figures involved with the series expressed that it was designed to feel complete on its own, and there are no plans ‘at all’ for a second season.
Moreover, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige pointed to ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ and other films as the continuation of the storylines introduced in ‘WandaVision.’
There Are New Shows On The Way
Despite these, ‘WandaVision’s legacy is set to continue within the MCU through other projects. An upcoming show titled ‘Vision Quest’ will reportedly explore the story of Vision post-‘WandaVision.’ It will focus on his quest to regain his memory and humanity.
‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries,’ a spin-off featuring Agatha Harkness, is another project that is set to carry the original series into new, dark comedic adventures. As for now, the series is set to premiere in late 2024.
Paul Bettany, who portrayed Vision in the series, confirmed his return to the MCU during a panel at MegaCon 2024, sparking interest in his character’s future. However, no specific details about his involvement in upcoming projects were provided, so this leaves room for speculation.
