Zack Snyder’s longtime collaborator Clay Staub is not happy with the new Superman suit.
James Gunn revealed David Corenswet’s suit earlier this week. Staub questioned the choice of the new look on Twitter and pointed out Superman’s awkward pose pulling on his boot. He even joked about the suit’s old-school trunks, saying:
“Who thought this was the best option for a First Look? Really, I’m not joking, speaking solely from the layout perspective, the pose (pulling his boot on) making the suit chest and arms look bulky and rubbery. BTW are those Trunks we’re returning to, I’m asking for a friend?”
Fan reactions are also mixed. Some made fun of the suit with memes, others liked seeing the red underpants make a return.

Fans Were Waiting To See Corenswet’s Superman Suit
Gunn showed David Corenswet’s first picture as Superman with a photo taken during filming. It shows a big alien attack happening behind Superman in Metropolis.
New suit has some shiny armor parts mixed with spandex. It looks a bit like the outfits from Superman’s recent comic books. The cape is also different, and the big ‘S’ on his chest looks like it has seen a lot of action. Gunn previously said Corenswet had a hard time fitting in the costume.
‘Superman’ is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. It will follow the story of Superman trying to figure out his life as both a superhero from the planet Krypton and as a regular guy from Kansas. The film will also star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
