Pedro Pascal’s ‘Weapons’ Exit Is Reportedly Connected To ’Fantastic Four’ Role

This happened because the filming of ‘Fantastic Four’ was delayed, causing a schedule conflict.

In a turn of events, Pedro Pascal has reportedly left the upcoming horror film ‘Weapons.’ This decision appears to be closely linked to his involvement in Marvel’s ‘Fantastic Four’ movie, where he is rumored to play Reed Richards.

According to recent reports, a scheduling conflict with the MCU’s upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ film has led to Pascal’s departure from ‘Weapons.’ Originally slated for spring filming, ‘Fantastic Four’ had delays, and this resulted in an unavoidable overlap with Pascal’s schedule.

While Marvel has yet to officially confirm Pascal’s casting as the next Reed Richards, industry reports strongly suggest that he is the frontrunner for the role. This means that previous speculation surrounding Adam Driver and John Krasinski’s brief portrayal of the character in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ might stay as rumors.

What Will Happen to ‘Weapons’?

Pascal was initially cast in ‘Weapons’ around May 10, 2023. Directed by Zach Cregger, ‘Weapons’ is described as a multi-story horror epic that is drawing tonal parallels to Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Magnolia.’

While Pascal gears up for the ‘Fantastic Four,’ ‘Weapons’ continues its march toward a theatrical release. Renate Reinsve remains part of the cast, and the film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Richard Brener, President and Chief Creative Officer of New Line Cinema, expressed high expectations for Cregger’s capabilities as a filmmaker.

Pascal’s Schedule is Pretty Busy

Fans can look forward to Pascal’s return as Joel in the upcoming season of ‘The Last of Us,’ which will follow the storyline of the game’s sequel. The season introduces new characters played by Kaitlyn Dever and Young Mazino. Both ‘The Last of Us’ season 2 and ‘Fantastic Four’ are set to commence filming this year, with hopes for a 2025 release.

Pascal’s calendar is filled with new projects, including ‘Gladiator 2,’ ‘Freaky Tales,’ ‘Drive-Away Dolls,’ ‘Tropico,’ ‘My Dentist’s Murder Trial,’ and ‘The Uninvited.’
