Known for her upcoming role in Marvel Studios’ ‘Blade,’ Actress Mia Goth recently faced a lawsuit for allegedly kicking a background actor during the filming of the horror sequel ‘MaXXXine.’
James Hunter, the background actor involved, filed the lawsuit, claiming Goth kicked him in the head while shooting a scene for ‘MaXXXine.’ Hired to portray a ‘Dead Parishioner,’ Hunter alleged the incident occurred on his first night on the set.
According to the actor, he lay on the ground for hours, covered in fake blood and dealing with ants and mosquitoes. The lawsuit also details that during the fourth take, Goth almost stepped on Hunter. After voicing his concern to the second assistant director, Hunter claimed the subsequent take resulted in Goth intentionally kicking him in the head.
The lawsuit read:
“In the following take, defendant Goth intentionally kicked the plaintiff in his head with her boot. The kick in the head caused the plaintiff to immediately experience headache and stiffness in his neck. As a result of being kicked in the head by defendant Goth, Plaintiff suffered, and has continued to suffer, symptoms of head trauma, including disorientation, vertigo, migraines, nightmares, and severe emotional distress.”
The Aftermath of the Incident
Post-incident, Goth is also accused of following Hunter into the bathroom, where she allegedly mocked and taunted him. In the end, Hunter’s participation in the film was abruptly cut short, as he was informed by the casting agency that his services were no longer required for the remaining days he was initially hired for.
The lawsuit against Goth includes allegations of battery and wrongful termination, extending to claims against A24 and Ti West as well. Hunter is reportedly seeking $250,000 for medical expenses, rehabilitation, and related costs, alongside punitive damages.
This incident may cast a shadow on Goth’s current projects, which include a role in Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ and the ‘Blade’ reboot.
As of now, representatives for Goth have not responded to the allegations. Meanwhile, the film ‘MaXXXine’ is slated for a 2024 release, following the success of its predecessors, ‘X’ and ‘Pearl.’ Goth not only stars in the film but also contributes as a producer alongside a cast that includes Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, and others.
