According to his recent interview at the Sundance Film Festival, actor Sebastian Stan remains enthusiastic about his upcoming role in ‘Thunderbolts’ despite the franchise’s box office performance.
Stan is set to reprise his role as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in the film. Attending the festival for the world premiere of ‘A Different Man,’ Stan expressed his readiness to return to the MCU, saying:
“I’m excited. I’m going to go back basically in a month or so. I’ve missed it. It’s a great cast.”
He then revealed his thoughts on Marvel’s recent box-office struggles, revealing he’s focused on the bright side:
“The batting average is so high that it’s difficult to always land everything right away. It’s always been a great experience. With this one in particular, I think there’s a lot of good things.”
Recent Updates About ‘Thunderbolts’
As the thirty-seventh film in the series and the fifteenth in Phase Six, ‘Thunderbolts‘ follows narratives from ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp,’ ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier,’ ‘Black Widow,’ and ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’ Directed by Jake Schreier, the film has been slated for release on July 25, 2025.
The film has a cast that includes Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Wyatt Russell, and Olga Kurylenko. Harrison Ford will join the ensemble, taking over the role of Thaddeus Ross from the late William Hurt. Additionally, Ayo Edebiri has been cast in an undisclosed role.
Steven Yeun was initially set to play a key role but had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts caused by industry strikes.
On the other hand, ‘A Different Man‘ focuses on an aspiring actor overcoming a facial disability. It is expected to hit theaters later in 2024. Stan, on the other hand, was rumored to appear in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ as Bucky Barnes, but this was debunked. It’s known that he’ll portray young Donald Trump in ‘The Apprentice.’
