In a recent interview with People, Jeremy Renner opened up about the challenges he faced while venturing into his music career, particularly after his near-fatal accident in early 2023.
Renner admits that creating this album was a healing experience, helping him process the loneliness and isolation he faced during hospitalization. This project, according to Renner, was more personal, just like a musical diary rather than just a collection of songs, so it made things more difficult in being vulnerable to public judgment and criticism:
“When it comes to music, it’s just me and my thoughts and feelings and perspectives, and so it’s a little bit more revealing, and that’s a little tougher to do. [It’s] tough to really just kind of be yourself and be open to being judged and criticized and all these things. [It takes] a lot of courage to have to do that… I’m a pretty private guy, but there are certain things I feel like it’d be a shame if I didn’t [release].”
Renner’s daughter, Ava, 10, appears in the music video for his song ‘Wait.’ They also appear together in Silk’s Super Bowl commercial. As per People, Renner sees these ventures, alongside his music release, as important steps in his recovery.
How Did Jeremy Renner Accident Happen?
On New Year’s Day 2023, Renner was critically injured in a snow plow accident at his home, suffering blunt chest trauma and over 30 broken bones. The severity of the incident led to an intensive hospital stay, including surgery and critical care, at Renown Regional Medical Center.
Renner was released from the hospital two weeks post-accident and, within ten weeks, began walking with assistance.
On January 5, the actor revealed that he initially underestimated its severity. He was unaware of being on life support and was surprised by the public’s outpouring of concern. The accident left Renner with both physical and emotional scars. You can read what he said about the accident here.
Also a musician, Renner found solace in music during this period. His latest album, ‘Love and Titanium,‘ released earlier this month, explores what he went under through those times. The album title, inspired by an ABC interview, metaphorically represents his journey of recovery.
Renner’s accident and recovery have not only had an impact on his personal life but also on his professional career. He is preparing to resume filming for the third season of the Paramount+ series ‘The Mayor Of Kingstown.’ There are also rumors of his return as Hawkeye in ‘Avengers 5‘ and participation in an untitled ‘Oxycontin‘ project.
