Following a guilty verdict in December on charges of misdemeanor assault and harassment, Jonathan Majors now finds his career overshadowed by new legal and personal controversies. As per the New York Times, Majors faces further legal issues as two ex-girlfriends come forward with new abuse allegations.
According to a report released by The New York Times on Thursday, detailed accounts from Emma Duncan and Maura Hooper indicate that both have had abusive relationships with the actor. Duncan accuses Majors of physical and emotional abuse, while Hooper’s allegations focus on emotional mistreatment.
Chaudhry, representing Majors, denied many of the physical abuse claims while acknowledging the actor’s involvement in ‘toxic’ relationships and hurtful remarks. Chaudhry highlights the intense nature of these relationships, which began during their time as drama students, saying:
“These relationships were between young drama students, and all began with mutual intensity. Mr. Majors and Ms. Hooper mutually agreed that they should end the pregnancy. That deeply sad event is still a painful memory for Mr. Majors.”
The New York Times also shed light on Majors’ behavior on the set of ‘Lovecraft Country,’ citing his intimidating interactions with female crew members. Despite this, his lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, cited endorsements from other female colleagues and praised Majors’ professionalism and dedication to method acting.

These new claims emerged months after Majors was convicted for an altercation with another ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in New York City in March 2023.
Majors himself has spoken out about the situation, expressing regret over certain actions and reflecting on his personal history with relationships in a televised interview. Despite the gravity of the accusations and the looming legal challenges, Majors maintains a hopeful stance, supported by faith and the backing of loved ones.
As the sentencing hearing for the Jabbari case is delayed to April 8, 2024, the actor faces a potential maximum sentence of one year in jail. However, given his status as a first-time offender, probation remains a possibility.
Following this series of allegations, Marvel Studios severed ties with the actor and is now looking for his replacement as Kang the Conqueror. Majors’ participation in other projects, such as ‘Magazine Dreams,’ remains in limbo.
Speculation about potential replacements for Majors’ iconic role includes names like John David Washington and Colman Domingo, though no official decisions have been announced. Meanwhile, Majors’ legal team is preparing an appeal against the December verdict.
