As per Deadline, NBC has officially announced that Stephen Amell, known for his role as Oliver Queen in Arrow, will lead the cast of the spinoff series Suits L.A.
Set to commence production in late March 2024 in Vancouver, ‘Suits L.A.’ introduces us to Ted Black, portrayed by Amell.
According to Deadline, Black is a former federal prosecutor from New York now leading a law firm in Los Angeles specializing in criminal and entertainment law. He is a charismatic individual who prioritizes his own needs and joined forces with his old buddy, Stuart Lane, 15 years ago to build the L.A. law firm.
‘Suits L.A.’ will delve into Black’s efforts to handle a crisis at his firm, explore the balance between personal and professional lives, and unravel the events that drove Ted to abandon his old life and start anew in L.A.
What is ‘Suits L.A.’ About?
‘Suits L.A.’ is not positioned as a reboot or revival but rather as a new extension of the ‘Suits’ franchise, which reminds us of the approach taken by the CSI and NCIS series, introducing new characters and settings while maintaining the spirit of the original.
Aaron Korsh, the creator of the original ‘Suits’ series, is involved in ‘Suits L.A.’ as an executive producer. Other executive producers include David Bartis, Doug Liman, and Gene Klein, who also worked on the original series. Victoria Mahoney directs and executive produces the pilot, and the series is produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
The original ‘Suits’ series concluded in 2019 after nine seasons and 134 episodes. Its addition to Netflix and Peacock in 2023 rekindled interest in the franchise, leading NBCUniversal and Universal Television to develop this new spin-off.
Amell’s recent projects include Starz’s wrestling drama ‘Heels’ and the upcoming Netflix film ‘Code 8: Part II,‘ which he produced.
