Linda Hamilton Refuses To Star In ‘Terminator’ Reboot: ‘I’m Done’

She thinks the franchise has told its story and there’s nothing new to add.

In a recent interview with Business Insider, Linda Hamilton officially declared that she will not be returning for the ‘Terminator’ reboot.

Hamilton, who made her breakthrough as Sarah Connor in 1984’s ‘The Terminator,’ expressed her feelings towards the franchise’s direction, stating:

“I’m done. I’m done. I have nothing more to say. The story’s been told, and it’s been done to death.”

Implying there are way too many ‘relaunches’ in Hollywood, she continued:

“Why anybody would relaunch it is a mystery to me. But I know our Hollywood world is built on relaunches right now.”

During the conversation, Hamilton also pointed out Sarah Connor’s flaws, describing her not as an icon but as ‘a woman in hell’ faced with difficult choices and the pressures of motherhood.

Schwarzenegger Won’t Be in a Terminator Reboot

As for now, it seems the future of the ‘Terminator’ franchise remains uncertain.

James Cameron, the creator behind the original film, hinted at a reboot during a May 2023 appearance at the Dell Tech World conference. Meanwhile, Netflix reportedly started creating a ‘Terminator’ anime series.

Hamilton isn’t the only original cast member stepping away from the ‘Terminator’ series. Arnold Schwarzenegger, her co-star, also announced in May 2023 that he would not be involved in future installments:

“The franchise is not done. I’m done. I got the message loud and clear that the world wants to move on with a different theme when it comes to ‘The Terminator.’ Someone has to come up with a great idea.”

With names like Hamilton and Schwarzenegger stepping back, the series may need to find new directions and narratives.
