NCIS Fans, Get Ready: Ziva And Tony Are Back With New Spinoff Series By Paramount+

Paramount+ is resurrecting Ziva for a new adventure with her lover.

Paramount+ made an announcement this Wednesday, revealing plans for a new spinoff in the ‘NCIS’ universe.

This time, fans will see Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly stepping back into their beloved roles as Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo. Not just in front of the camera, Weatherly and de Pablo are also taking the helm as executive producers, working alongside John McNamara to bring this project to life. In a joint statement, the two actors shared:

“We’ve been talking about this story for many years, and now with John McNamara at the helm, we are ready. The world of Tony and Ziva (and daughter Tali) promises to be an action-packed roller coaster fueled by love, danger, tears, and laughter.”

The duo didn’t forget the fans who’ve stood by them through the years:

“We also want to acknowledge and thank the fans from around the world who supported the ‘TIVA’ movement for years. To this day, they say hello in grocery stores and on the street to tell us how much these characters mean to them and ask what Tony and Ziva are up to now. This is for you!”

Back With A New Mission

Scheduled to kick off later this year, the first season of this spinoff will hold 10 episodes and take its production to various European locations. The show, still unnamed, is being produced by CBS Studios, with Paramount Global Content Distribution handling its distribution.

An official synopsis gives a glimpse into the storyline:

“After Ziva’s supposed death, Tony left the NCIS team to go raise their daughter. Years later, Ziva was discovered alive, leading her to complete one final mission with NCIS before she was reunited with Tony and their daughter in Paris. Since then – and where we find them in the new Paramount+ original series – Tony and Ziva have been raising their daughter, Tali, together.”

Hinting at a new challenge for the fictional couple, it reads:

“When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, try to figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so that they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after.”

Cote de Pablo’s departure from the original ‘NCIS’ series after Season 11 and Michael Weatherly’s exit after Season 13 marked the end of an era for their characters. But their return in this spinoff series coincides with a milestone for ‘NCIS,’ as the franchise is set to air its 1000th episode on April 15.
