Kate Winslet Admits She Forgot She Was In ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’

Despite the significant effort she put into her role for the film, Winslet admitted to forgetting she was part of the project.

The revelation came during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. While discussing her filmography, Kate Winslet failed to mention ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ until Fallon brought it up. The actress, who reunited with ‘Titanic’ director James Cameron for the ‘Avatar’ sequel, seemed surprised by her own oversight.

She shared her amusement over the memory lapse, saying:

“Well, it’s really funny with ‘Avatar’ because [for] Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington and Sigourney, it’s been a part of their life for so long, and I honestly kind of went in and had intense two months back in 2018. So, it’s like, when you mention ‘Avatar,’ I’m like, ‘Oh, yeah, I’m in ‘Avatar.’ Okay.’ I forgot I’m in ‘Avatar.’”

In ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water,’ Winslet took on the role of Ronal, the spouse of the Metkayina clan’s leader from Pandora’s eastern sea.

Kate Winslet’s Involvement In ‘Avatar’

Her commitment to the character included training in free diving, even setting a new record for holding her breath underwater for more than seven minutes. Cameron has confirmed Winslet’s return as Ronal in ‘Avatar 3.’

Reflecting on her experiences in this franchise and other projects, the actress expressed a deep appreciation for the opportunities her career has afforded her:

“But it’s, you know, just incredible. I mean, I have to say, I’ve just felt so blessed to have had this amazing career but also just to meet these phenomenal people, that’s one of the loveliest things. Especially now, I think, being part of a film industry that really supports women and is championing young actresses.”

She’s Recognized For Other Roles

‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ has achieved monumental success, surpassing ‘Titanic’ to become the third highest-grossing film of all time globally, with earnings of $2.3 billion at the box office.

This success placed Winslet in the position of having starred in two of the top-grossing films directed by Cameron. Still, her audience recognized the actress for her other works, as she revealed:

“People come up to me in the street more about ‘The Holiday’ and the episode of ‘Extras’ that I did than ‘Titanic.’ I promise you. Especially at Christmas.”
